14 Jan Bloodletting Activity 2019
GSCWD hold its Blood Letting Activity 2019 in partnership with Red Cross SarGen with the theme “Alay kong Dugo Nagmla sa Puso” to commemorate the World Blood Donor Day 2019 last September 6, 2019.
A total of 15 blood donors took part in the activity, with 12 employees of the GSCWD and 3 of the concessionaires whose brave enough to donate their own blood to keep an adequate supply of safe and quality blood to enable to respond to emergencies. The activity ran from 9 o’clock in the morning to 2 in the afternoon at the GSCWD office.
The donors were given free snacks such as aroz caldo, balut and soft drinks to help them recover quickly.
This activity would not be possible without the help of Philippine Red Cross. The members of the Philippine Red Cross handled the screening of the donor and the collection of blood. The blood will be turned over to PRC’s main office for screening and testing to ensure its safety.
Meanwhile, GSCWD aims to promote awareness on the importance of blood and encourage regular blood donations to save lives and ensure that blood is readily available for those who need it.
GSCWD collected about 6,700cc of blood donated by donors during the activity.Facilitated by the Gender and Development Focal Point System, the activity was once again successful just like all the other undertakings of the district.
