Operation Tuli Year 3 benefits 300 boys

Some 319 boys, age 8 to 16 years, from across General Santos City received free circumcision from the General Santos City Water District’s Operation Tuli on April 29.

Already in the third year of implementation, this year’s Operation Tuli was held at the Medical Suites of Gensan Doctor’s Hospital, one of the partners of GSCWD.

Other participating organizations include the General Santos City Medical Society and General Santos City Association of Surgeons.

Hanelle Balansag, head of Gender and Development Program, said GSCWD gives importance to public health. “As a water service provider, it is part of the advocacy of the GSCWD to help the public practice proper hygiene which is a step in realizing their vision to play a vital role in upgrading the life of its people,” Balansag said.

Samson Palgan, father of a 9 year old boy, enlisted his son upon learning of Oplan Tuli Year 3. “In private hospitals/clinics, this usually costs around P3,000-P5,000 but GSCWD offered it for free. We are very thankful as we no longer have to spend that amount of money for my son’s circumcision,” said Palgan.

166 and 296 boys were also able to benefit from Operation Tuli in years 2016 and 2017 respectively.
