Additional Reservoir to Serve 10,000 Households in GenSan

 

A further accomplishment to GSCWD is the completion and operation of 1,000 cu.m cylindrical ground steel tank reservoir located at Prk. Udagre, Brgy. Conel this City which was inaugurated last March 13, 2018.

 

The reservoir is estimated to supply up to 10,000 households in the areas of barangays Lagao, San Isidro, Ligaya and Conel.

 

According to General Manager Engr. Arn Gellangarin, this is only the first of the two reservoirs that is planned to be constructed in the area as the goal is to provide enough water supply to the Central area.

 

Engr. Manuel Fortunato D. Yaphockun, Chairperson for GSCWD Board of Directors, has assured that the water utility will continue to develop new ideas for sustainable development.

 

“Water is life. We believe that our capacity should not be what is in demand right now. We have to foresee 4-5 years from now what will be the demand of General Santos City,” Engr. Yaphockun said.

 

Present during the inauguration were City Councilor Vandyke Congson, Conel Brgy. Captain Luciano Palma, Jonathan Blando representing Mayor Ronnel Rivera, friends from neighboring water districts and management and staff of the agency.

 

The said project was started on July 29, 2017 and was completed on February 23, 32018 under the supervision of GSCWD’s resident engineer  Rolly Gunday.
