Women’s Month with the theme this year, “We Make Change Work for Women”, is celebrated aiming at empowering women as active contributors of development in the society and calling for gender equality.

Recognizing the significance of this event and joining with the many government agencies in celebrating this year’s Women’s month,  General Santos City Water District conducted series of activities with the Gender and Development committee as the prime leaders.

GSCWD also gave away kits with alcohol, soap and tissue to female concessionaires transacting at the office. There were also raffles with 5kg of rice and pouch as prizes.

An online contest through Facebook was also launched. Female netizens were asked “Bilang babae, ano ang mahalagang kontribusyon ang naibahagi mo sa komunidad o sa pamilya mo? The three lucky winners of the contest received a cash gift from GSCWD as prize.

The event was concluded with the activity tagged as “Kapehan ni Juana” where GSCWD gave out free coffee and pandesal to female paying customers while a local acoustic band was playing. GSCWD hoped to make the females feel special and appreciated while enjoying a cup of coffee and listening to some good music even while queuing.

The supposed month-long celebration and some of the activities were postponed due to Covid-19, nevertheless, the activities done earlier were already enough to highlight the 2020 Women’s Month.
